The Alabama Eliminator

  • 2027 ALABAMA ELIMINATOR TOURNAMENT RULES

    1. RULES and REGULATIONS: United States Bowling Congress rules and regulations will govern this tournament.

    2. DRESS CODE AND CONDUCT: BOWLING SHIRTS WITH NAME ON BACK OF SHIRT REQUIRED. Slacks, jeans or shorts may be worn during all rounds of competition but must be in good repair. HAT will be allowed. No shorts, tank tops, T-shirts, gym shorts or sweats or headphones/earbuds permitted. No use of tobacco/vapes during competition – For all conduct or dress violations: 1st offense warning, 2nd offense disqualification without refund.

    3. URETHANE BALL RULE: ONLY 78D URETHANE BALLS WILL BE ALLOWED. MUST BE FOUND ON PBA LIST OF APPROVED URETHANE BALLS AS OF 7/31/27. USE OF ANY URETHANE BALL NOT ON PBA APPROVED LIST WILL BE CAUSE FOR IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION WITHOUT REFUND.

    4. ENTRANCE ELIGIBILITY: NO YOUTH BOWLERS. Participation in Alabama Eliminator shall be available to all current USBC with a 2026/27 membership.

    5. ENTRY FEES: Entry fee in this tournament will be $200.00 (lineage $46.75, Expenses $8.25, prize fund $145.00). Only paid entry guarantees your spot. Walk-in entries allowed up to a maximum field of 52 bowlers per squad, CASH ONLY. REFUNDS: A 100% refund will be given if bowler withdraws with notice by July 30th, 2027. No refunds after July 30th, 2027.  

    6. PAYMENTS: Make all checks payable to David Han, and please note 2027 ALABAMA ELIMINATOR in memo. A $40.00 fee will be charged for returned checks. No certified or registered mail will be accepted. No cash payment by mail. Cash ONLY during walk-in entry on day of tournament or when entry is given to tournament director in person. CashApp will also be accepted up to July 30th, 2027. Contact Dave Han for details.

    7. LANE ASSIGNMENTS: All lane assignments will be done at random prior to day of tournament, then walk-in entries will fill in open spots on a first come, first served. LANE ASSIGNMENT REQUESTS will be honored to the best of my ability, must be requested by July 25th, 2027. For advancer and eliminator rounds, lane assignments will be pre-determined.

    8a. QUALIFYING – all squads Saturday will be on fresh oil. 1) There will be 2 separate qualifying squads on Saturday 7/31. Each squad will bowl (5) games with half the squad advancing. If there are an odd number of bowlers on a squad, the cut will be slightly lower than half (EX: Top 22 would advance if there are 45 bowlers). On the B squad qualifying, a bowler who bowled A squad and did not advance may re-enter at full entry IF there is room (capped 52 bowlers). A bowler who qualified on A squad may also pay full entry to bowl B squad to pace for brackets – ONLY if there is room after everyone who needs to qualify on B squad has entered. That pacer score will not affect who advances on B squad. ALL PINS DROP FROM QUALIFYING. 2) All advancers will return for C squad Saturday 7/31 to bowl 5 games. Half of C squad will advance to Cashers Rd on Sunday 8/1 with same rule used pertaining to an odd number of bowlers. ALL PINS DROP FROM C SQUAD TO SUNDAY.

    8b. SUNDAY ELIMINATOR ROUNDS – ONLY FRESH OIL SUNDAY WILL BE FOR CASHERS ROUND. Cashers round Sunday AM will bowl 4 games with pins carrying over to next rd. Top 12 will advance. 2nd rd. Sunday will bowl 3 more games, pins carrying over to next rd. Top 6 will advance. 3rd rd. Sunday will bowl 2 more games – top 3 will advance – ALL PINS DROP. The final 3 bowlers remaining will bowl 1 game to determine 1st/2nd/3rd. If there is a tie for who advances to next round at any point, a 9th/10th frame rolloff will determine the advancer. If there is still a tie, 1 ball rolloff will determine the advancer. Whoever had the highest game during that particular round will get lane choice.

    *CALCUTTA: Prior to 1st round on Sunday AM, there will be a Calcutta to bid on the remaining bowlers. Top 6 will get a cut of the Calcutta – 1st: 35%, 2nd: 20%, 3rd: 15%, 4th-6th: 10% each.

    *LANE COURTESY/PACE OF PLAY: (1) lane courtesy during all rounds. 25-second clock will be utilized to deter slow play. A player will be warned, then if continued could result in zero pins for that potential delivery.

    *BRACKETS/HIGH GAME POTS/SUPER-ELIMINATOR: Brackets and high game pots will be made available during all rounds on Saturday, July 31st. A Super-Eliminator will be available during Cashers Round on Sunday, Aug 1st.

    *PRIZE FUND: Prize fund is 1:4 ratio. Estimated prize fund on flyer is based on 104 full entries. Prize fund will be adjusted according to total numbers of entries. All bowlers advancing to Sunday cash – last cash spot is guaranteed $350 regardless of entries.

    12. LIABILITY: All tournament participants agree that the tournament director, workers and bowling center shall be liable only to the extent of returning entry fees if, and when, said entrant shall be prevented from bowling through delay, unexpected yet necessary schedule change, or premature termination of the tournament, which may be brought about by war, national emergency or causes ratings thereto or resulting there from fires, strikes, lockouts, floods, or other causes beyond the control of the tournament.

    THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR SHALL DECIDE ANY QUESTIONS/DISPUTES NOT COVERED BY THESE RULES.
